Story
This year we are raising money for Spinal Research by taking part in their Alpine challenge. In 3 days, we will be trekking through 3 countries, completing 3 peaks, and reaching altitudes of over 3,000m.
Becca & Josh’s Story…
2020 was a rough year for us. My husband lost his father to covid, a frontline NHS worker. And just 2 short days later, he was involved in an accident that tipped our whole world upside down. He was given no time to grieve the loss of his father, and was now faced with a spinal cord injury, that completely changed the course of our lives forever. Our journey since that day hasn’t been smooth sailing but we have not let that stop us. We got married, enjoyed an amazing honeymoon in Alaska and have shared multiple holidays together since. Nothing can prepare you for paralysis and all the battles that come with it. It is certainly no easy ride, but we are navigating it together. This is why raising money for Spinal Research means so much to us.
Paralysis should not have to come with so many other unseen struggles and we hope that our donation will be a small help into aiding the future outlook of this condition, and many others.
How does Spinal Research help?
Spinal Research is the UK's leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal injury. Their research into spinal cord injury repair and recovery, not only supports paralysis, but other conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, cervical spondylitis myelopathy, dementia and Parkinson's.
There are currently around 50,000 people in the UK and Ireland living with paralysis due to injury of the spinal cord. Charities such as Spinal Research give people experiencing such life altering injuries hope for a better and brighter future. We hope to raise more awareness of the importance of spinal injury research and how their scientific breakthroughs can change the lives of so many individuals suffering with debilitating conditions, as well as their close family and friends.
Spinal Research does not receive any government funding and relies solely on kind donations like yours. Any support or donation you can offer for this amazing cause will be truly appreciated by so many. Thank you. 😊
