Story
On the 12th April 2026, I will be running the Rutland Spring Half Marathon in memory of my partner Jake, who sadly took his own life on the 19th January aged 30.
I will be running in his memory to raise money for Tough To Talk, which is a charity dedicated to breaking the silence around male suicide and raising awareness of men's mental health.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will be greatly appreciated and help make a real difference 💚
ABOUT TOUGH TO TALK:
TOUGHT TO TALK's mission is to reduce male suicide rates by empowering and encouraging men to speak openly about their struggles, seek help, and reduce the stigma around men's mental health.
They help organisations who want to support their men, by using positive action, designed specifically with men in mind delivered in a way that men can access and engage with.
TOUGH TO TALK speaks the language of the men they aim to help, making their resources approachable and relatable. Their focus on practical, actionable solutions rather than just awareness makes them a lifeline for many men.
Their founder lost a friend to suicide and has personally faced suicidal behaviour. This tragedy, along with shocking male suicide statistics, sparked a need for change.
TOUGH TO TALK partner with male-dominated spaces, provide education, and offer resources like their #MANUP book and journals:
Suicide Prevention and Awareness Training - they provide TOUGH TALKER Enhanced, specialised training for organizations to help identify signs of distress and offer appropriate support.
Community Outreach - through workshops, seminars, and TOUGH TALKS, they raise awareness and educate communities about the importance of mental health.
Education and Resources - from online blogs, videos and a TOUGH TALKERS APP they offer accessible resources that men can rely on.
Research and Advocacy - they advocate for policy changes and conduct research to better understand the factors contributing to male suicide.
Their impact is evident in the lives saved and the conversations started about mental health.
Your donation will save men's lives.
