Story
✨ This September, I’m taking part in Stomp September and walking 400,000 steps to raise money for BRCA+ Chat. ✨
I recently found out that I carry the BRCA2 gene mutation — something I share with my beautiful mum, who sadly lost her battle with cancer in 2013. ❤️
They say knowledge is power, and in this case, it really is. Knowing I carry the BRCA2 mutation means I have the opportunity to make informed choices and take risk-reducing measures.
For anyone who doesn’t know, a BRCA2 mutation can increase the risk of developing certain cancers. For women with a BRCA2 mutation, the lifetime risk of breast cancer can be around 85%, compared with around 12.5% in the general population.
BRCA+ Chat is an incredible charity run by people who are themselves affected by BRCA. They support people across the UK who are navigating their own BRCA journey — whether that’s coming to terms with a diagnosis, making difficult decisions, or simply needing someone who understands.
Most importantly, they make sure that nobody navigating BRCA has to feel alone. ❤️
If you’d like to support me and help raise money for BRCA+ Chat, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference. ✨
