In 2023 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic Bowel Cancer. At the time I was given a 6 to 18 month prognosis.

Since then, I have had 2 major abdominal surgeries, 8 cycles of Chemotherapy, and I have been on Immunotherapy since March 2024. My prognosis has now significantly improved under the amazing care of the team at Royal Marsden, and I am even now returning to work.

I have a particular mutation (BRAF V600 E) which is resistant to chemotherapy. This means that without Cancer Research resulting in advances in treatment and surgical procedures, I wouldn’t not be here today.

These advances in cancer treatment wouldn’t happen if they weren’t supported by fundraising events like this. 3 years ago, running a mile might not have felt like such a big achievement, however now, I feel grateful that this is even a possibility, especially to share it with all the people that have been there with me along the way.
