Beckie’s Skydive for the Recovery Games

Skydive · 7 June 2025
As many of you may know, our family was dealt a huge loss in 2020 when we lost my dad, Paddy Wells. This December marks 5 years since he passed, a time that seems unfathomable - it feels like only yesterday that the heartbreaking phone call came and we had to say our goodbyes.
To commemorate him, I have decided to participate in a tandem skydive at Hibaldstow on June 7th in an effort to raise some funds for charity. In particular, any donations I receive will be given to Doncaster Drug and Alcohol Services (Aspire) to help with funding for the next Recovery Games. For those who don’t know, the Recovery Games is an amazing funday event which unites families, friends and the wider community in celebrating those on their recovery journey, as well as working to break associated stigmas - highly recommend, it’s a great day out!
Addiction of any kind is a cruel disease, and unfortunately it takes thousands of lives each year - including the life of my Dad. The Recovery Games is a brilliant way to spread awareness and make positive connections, and I’m hoping that I can do my bit to help! Any donation would be happily accepted and I would be so grateful. I know times are more difficult than ever at the minute, so even just a share would help me massively. It’s a safe bet to say we all know someone who has been affected by addiction in some way - awareness, education and breaking the stigma can all help in saving someone we love.
I’ve no doubt in my mind that my Dad would think I’m crazy for jumping out of a plane at 10,000ft - I’m inclined to think the same! But if there’s anything we know about life, it’s that it is so incredibly short. If I can tick something off of my bucket list whilst also raising money for an amazing cause in the memory of my Dad, then let’s do it! 🪂✈
