Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support.
Restart A Heart is an initiative created by the Resuscitation Council in collaboration with the British Heart Foundation, UK Ambulance Services, and other health organisations, with the aim of encouraging and empowering as many people as possible to learn how to perform CPR and be ready to save a life.
In January 2007, when I was 16 years old, my Mum (39) went into cardiac arrest at home. I had been a member of the St John's Ambulance Cadets and luckily knew CPR, so I began chest compressions while the ambulance was on its way.
After nearly 3 weeks in a coma, Mum woke up in Intensive Care, the day before her 40th Birthday. The ICU nurses decorated her bed with banners and balloons to celebrate.
Even though heart failure still eventually took her from us in 2021, effective CPR bought us 14 extra years with her.
She saw me attend university.
She saw me get married.
And she got to meet her grandchildren.
My mum was a living testament to the importance of early bystander CPR.
In Mum's memory, I am organising and participating in a marathon CPR challenge, raising money for the British Heart Foundation.
My goal is to provide continuous CPR to a training manikin, via a relay of volunteers, for at least 24 hours.
Can we do it?
Can we provide Resusci-Annie with continuous CPR for the full 24 hours?
Can we raise at least £500 for the British Heart Foundation to keep fighting for every heartbeat?
Keep an eye out on EEAST releases to find out!
