Story

I am one of the lucky (or unlucky depending who you ask) people who managed to get a ballot place in the London marathon this year! Even though my ticket doesn’t require any money to be raised, I don’t want to miss the opportunity to raise some dolla for an unbelievable cause, which is the amazing charity Dementia UK.

My uncle was sadly diagnosed with early onset dementia in his early 60s, and seeing first-hand the impact it has on him and our family has been very tough. Dementia doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed, it affects everyone around them, often in ways you don’t fully appreciate until you’re living it.

Dementia UK does amazing work supporting families through specialist dementia nurses who provide guidance, reassurance and practical help when it’s needed most. Their support makes a real difference during what can be a very overwhelming journey.

So, if my unexpected lottery win of a ballot place can help raise some money for an incredible cause, I’ll happily put in the miles. Any donation, big or small, would mean so much, thank you for supporting me and Dementia UK.
