We are raising money to support our local Critical Care and Emergency Department, which provides essential, life-saving care to people in our community every day. We are taking part in the local Weymouth half iron man in September.

We all work at Dorset County Hospital in different roles. Dan, who is swimming, is a pain specialist nurse. Kate, who is running, is a physiotherapist working in critical care. I’m Becky, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner for the Critical Care Outreach Team, and I’ll be doing the bike ride.

Within our job roles we see first-hand the incredible work that goes into caring for patients during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. The teams in these departments work tirelessly to respond to emergencies, support recovery, and provide compassionate care when it is needed most. Through this fundraiser, we hope to help support vital equipment, resources and services so they can continue delivering the highest level of care to everyone who relies on them. Every contribution, big or small, will help make a real difference. 💙

On a personal note, my stepdad was a patient in both departments last year. They saved his life! He was cared for by both the Emergency Department and the Critical Care team. Seeing the care, dedication and expertise of the staff during such a worrying time for our family was truly inspirational. Beyond grateful he has made a full recovery.
