Story
Because sight is something we should never take for granted.
This year, I’m taking on the Bath Half Marathon to raise funds for Torch Trust, a charity that brings hope, connection and practical support to people living with sight loss.
For many of us, being able to see the world around us is something we barely stop to think about — the colours, the faces, the places we love. But for thousands of people, sight loss can make even everyday moments feel isolating, overwhelming, or out of reach. Torch Trust works to ensure that no one faces that journey alone, offering accessible resources, companionship, and tools that help people stay included and connected.
🏃♀️ My personal challenge
I’m not going to pretend training has been easy. I’ve been battling plantar fasciitis, which has meant stopping, resting, and starting again more times than I’d like. It’s frustrating — especially when I know how much I need to train.
I ran my first half marathon at 24, when I was faster, fitter, and thought nothing of lacing up and heading out. This time, it’s a very different journey. Every mile feels hard won, every soggy run a small victory. But that’s exactly why this challenge matters to me: it reminds me what resilience looks like, and what it means to keep going even when things feel tough.
💛 Why Torch Trust
Torch Trust makes Christian faith, community, and resources fully accessible to people affected by sight loss. Their work helps people stay connected, spiritually nourished, and supported in moments when the world can feel smaller or harder to navigate.
Your donation will help them to:
- Run friendship groups that tackle loneliness head-on
- Provide practical tools and spiritual support for people adjusting to sight loss
- Continue building communities where everyone feels seen, valued, and included
- Produce accessible Bibles, books and magazines
🙌 Every donation brings light
If you’re able to support me — whether through a donation, sharing this page, or cheering me on — it truly means the world. This run is a challenge, but it’s one I’m proud to take on for a cause that brings light and hope to so many.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
Here’s to crossing that finish line — sore foot and all! 💛
