Story
In August 2021, our Dad, Wilf, was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer, and after his first batch of chemo, scans showed it had spread to his lungs and his liver. Dad’s had 5 surgeries and 29 rounds of chemo to date, with more treatment still needed. In March, he will celebrate his 70th birthday…still living with cancer.
After receiving his chemo at St Luke’s supported by the amazing Fountain Centre in Guildford, they have become our family charity. Between us we’ve cat-walked at a fashion show, delivered homemade chemo bags for patients, and sung in concerts. We've dragged our friends and colleagues in to abseil down cathedrals, run in races, and trek ultra challenges. The grandkids have also supported with muddy runs and Mad Hair Days - check out the gallery :)
So when I got a ballot place in the London Marathon (after trying for 11 years!), it was all to make sure we could raise even more money for this amazing charity, who still support us all almost 5 years in to Dad’s cancer journey.
