At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

On the 21st June 2023, Dave, Becky, Miles & Ethan will take on the longest day of golf challenge at Ripon Golf Club. We have set the target to play 3 rounds of golf, which is 54 holes.

A normal round of golf takes about 4 hours and is typically about 10km/6 miles of walking... so we're looking to complete at least 12 hours of golf in one day and will walk nearly 20 miles. The tee times are 5:20am, 10:20am & 3:40pm.

The work that the Alzheimer's Society does is really important and we're likely to have all known someone who has suffered from dementia or Alzheimer's in their later years. Becky’s gran B, suffered in her last few years with dementia, which is heart-breaking for the family as she just didn't recognise us anymore. B died in 2020 at the age of 97. She was a great golfer and played up until she was in her 80's at Whitby Golf Club, and if anyone has played at Whitby you'll appreciate that its a tough course to play. Her favourite flower was the forget-me-not so what could be a better way to remember her.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
