Story
So here we go again. I will be running my 2nd london marathon on the 26th april and also my 2nd time raising funds for the amazing moorfields eye hospital il just recap on my sons journey.
My son leo was born with primary congenital glaucoma. We had no idea he had this illness when he was 1st born. After 3 months we noticed he's eyes would not stop watering so we went to the doctors to be told he had a blocked tear duct. After a month or so they still kept streaming so he was referred to the james pagent hospital where we then found out he had this condition. It's a type of glaucoma. Group of diseases in which high fluid pressure in the eye damages the optic nerve. It affects children from birth to 3 years. Primary congenital glaucoma is a serious condition that needs attention, It affects 1 in every 10,000 infants. Untreated cases are major cause of childhood blindness. We have been back and forth to moorfields ever since leo was 1 years old, he has undergone many operations. He currently has stents in both eyes to help drain the fluid and keep the pressure down and will be on eye drops for the rest of hes life. Recently in the last couple of years leo has really struggled with light sensitivity, which has huge impact on hes day to day life. Any donations would be very much appreciated. Thankyou for reading my sons story, I will also keep you updated on how I'm getting on with my training.
