Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you know, last November we found out that the lovely Mr P has prostate cancer, in January he had major surgery to remove his prostate, hoping this would sort it. However a few of the naughty cells have got out and are on the move, so he now needs radiotherapy followed by 2 years of hormone therapy. His cancer was picked up on a routine blood test when he requested a PSA test during a well man check. He had NO symptoms whatsoever. PSA tests are not currently routine tests for men. I am currently putting myself through some long training runs in preparation the Suffolk Coastal Path 50k, while trying to manage the stress which obviously comes with this diagnosis and coming to terms with how our lives have changed & really want to raise awareness of the need to get tested.
Men, if you're aged 50 and over, please get your PSA levels checked, it's a simple blood test that you can request at your GP surgery and it may well save your life.
Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men.
