The Sickle Cell Society is the only national charity in the UK that supports and represents people affected by sickle cell disease to improve their overall quality of life. We provide information, advice, advocacy, respite, support services, hold talks, patient education seminars and training.

Story

After giving birth to my healthy baby boy Azai, at 3 weeks old after a heel prick test, we were told he had Sickle Cell Anemia SS.

As a mother navigating through a disorder I knew nothing about. We spent the first two years of my sons life in and out of hospital.

We are now in a place where Azai’s Sickle Cell is well managed and hospital visits are for checks up only.

I am so thankful for the sickle cell community, awareness that is raised and funds that go into research, for it has got me through some of the toughest hours, days and months giving me the hope for a better future for my now 4 year old son.

The least I can do is fundraise and raise awareness for a charity so close to my heart.
