Dip a Day Challenge · 1 April 2025

The BE Support Trust helps British Eventing competing members, through difficult times, whether that be recovering from an equestrian related injury or coping with mental health challenges. The Trust aims to support as many riders as possible from grassroots to the top of the sport.

Story

This April I will be taking part in a Dip a Day challenge to help raise money for the British Eventing Support Trust (BEST) charity.

In November 2024 I was involved in a freak field accident where my young horse fractured my jaw in three places and required metal plates inserted.

I reached out to BEST about how I can return to the saddle and be the best version of myself. They connected me to Sporting Chance Clinic and I spoke to one of the counsellors and received x6 free counselling sessions through funding from BEST.

The counselling was invaluable in helping me recover, especially at times when it’s hard to know who to speak to or offload your worries as you don’t always want to burden family or friends.

BEST was set up late 2021 to help BE Members, professional and amateur, through difficult times resulting from an eventing accident or mental wellbeing issues.

Regardless of whether the accident happens out competing, out training or at home, they aim to help in a prompt and sympathetic manner, to help riders through difficult times.

Now it’s time for me to give back to BEST through the Dip a Day challenge by getting into cold water, whether that’s the sea, river or worst case a cold shower.

Join me in the challenge, or if you don’t fancy getting into cold water, please sponsor me for this challenge for an amazing charity.
