Story
Little Hearts Matter is a national charity offering support and information to anyone affected by the devastating diagnosis of a single ventricle heart condition, children born with half a working heart. We work to support and raise awareness of the needs of these children and their families.
This charity is especially important to us because one of our own children, Nyla, was born with a congenital heart defect, including Hypoplastic Heart Syndrome. Nyla’s journey reminds us why raising awareness matters and why supporting research, resources and family services is so vital. Her bravery and strength inspire us to help ensure that other families facing similar diagnoses receive the support they need.
On Big Hearted Friday, children are warmly encouraged to join in a fun and meaningful dress down day, swapping their usual school clothes for red or blue — the official colours of the campaign. Whether it’s a bright red jumper, a blue t‑shirt, colourful accessories, or a combination of both, every splash of colour helps raise awareness and inspires conversations about what it means to live with “half a heart.”
A suggested donation of £1 is encouraged, but any amount is greatly appreciated. Every contribution helps Little Hearts Matter continue their life‑changing work.
Thank You for Being Big Hearted
By taking part—whether by wearing red or blue or simply donating—you are helping to support children like Nyla and many others living with incredibly complex heart conditions. Big Hearted Friday is about kindness, compassion and community.
Thank you for helping us fill our school with love, colour and hope this Big Hearted Friday.
