Story

Supporting Life-Saving Work: Our 2025 Charity Campaign

Tony Robinson, our Production Development Manager at Bedmax, has been a cornerstone of our company for nearly its entire 25-year journey. His dedication to quality and innovation has played a crucial role in our growth and continued success. With a tireless focus on creating dust-free, comfortable bedding, Tony has helped us enhance the well-being of horses and other animals across the country.

For a number of years Tony has battled a serious lung condition that ultimately required a lung transplant in February 2023. After months of complications and an extended hospital stay, it is thanks to the extraordinary, world-class team at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne that Tony is with us today. As we celebrate Bedmax’s 25th anniversary, we are deeply thankful for the incredible care he received.

The Freeman Hospital is internationally recognised for its leadership in organ transplantation, ground-breaking research, and its outstanding work in heart and lung transplant care. In honour of the team that saved Tony’s life, we are proud to announce the Freeman Heart and Lung Transplant Association as our chosen charity for 2025.

Our ambitious goal is to raise £25,000 to support their vital work—and we need your help to make it happen.

We will be hosting a wide range of fundraising events throughout the year, including a virtual walk around the world, the Great North Run, and a cycling challenge covering 400 miles.

The centrepiece of our efforts will be an extraordinary endurance ride: Tim Smalley, our Managing Director and founder, and Olivia Leyland, our Operations Manager, will cycle from our production plant in Hampshire, to our Newark facility, and finally to Greymare, our plant in Northumberland. Taking place in June, this journey will see them joined along the way by our customers, colleagues, and supporters riding alongside for sections of the route.

We would be incredibly grateful for your support as we aim to give back to the hospital that gave us so much.

If you would like to contribute, your donation - big or small - would mean the world to us.
