Play for Anna Shutova - Supporting the Meningitis Research Foundation

In December 2024 our Bedminster Volleyball club family experienced a devastating loss of one of our Junior players Anna Shutova. Anna came through the club’s development programme. Initially Bristol Spikers laterally Bemi VC.
Anna was smart, kind and spirited 19-year-old who was fit and well and studying at Swansea University as a mechanical engineer. Anna contracted Meningitis and was unaware that she was ill and passed unexpectedly.
Anna was not only a beloved teammate but also a bright light in our community whose passion for volleyball and zest for life touched everyone she met.
To honour Anna’s memory, we are launching this fundraiser in support of the meningitis Research Foundation, to raise both awareness and vital funds for research education and support for families affected by this devastating illness.
As a symbolic gesture of remembrance and celebration our ladies first team coach Gary has dyed his hair purple after our ladies were promoted to the National League Division 1 at the end of this season. Purple is the official colour of the meningitis Research Foundation, showing our commitment to making Anna proud both on and off court.

Bedminster Volleyball club have had an immense season across the club, and this is a fitting tribute to Anna.
This May the 9th to 11th both our Women’s and Men’s teams will be completing in the Southwest championship’s tournament, and we will continue bringing awareness there and play in Anna's honour.
We invite you to join us in remembering Anna and making a difference. Every donation no matter how small helps totalizing research and ensure that fewer families have to face what we have been through.
Together, we play for Anna. 💜🏐
Thank you for your support,
The BEMI Volleyball Family
