🐝 A Bee, A Bike & A Serious Cause!

On 28th October, I'll be cycling from Preston to Blackpool dressed as a bee! 🐝🚲 Thats 19 Miles, from Preston Market, around the Docks, a long the A583, through the Centre of Blackpool, to the See Front and down the Seafront. Later on I will also Ride the Lights from Stargate to Red bank Road. What about Wind and/or Rain? Well I will still BEE doing it, may just take a little longer than the 2 hours Google says.

Yes, it sounds slightly crazy… but I'm doing it to raise awareness of domestic abuse and money for Changing Pathways in Basildon, who support people affected by domestic abuse.

Last year I walked the Lights in a Dress full of LED Lights, this Year I will BEE riding the lights and the 19 Miles, Dressed as a female Bee, with yes, lots of LED lights on the Outfit and Bike. (I got to BEE seen right?).

I'm hoping that seeing a grown man pedalling along in a Female BEE costume in the last week of October, when Bee's are resting for the Winter will get people smiling — but more importantly, get people talking about a very serious issue.

It is Estimated that 2.2-2.5 Million Females and 1.5-1.7 Million Males are a victim of Domestic abuse each year. But this is the reported cases, many live with it in hiding, in fear, in shame and because they feel no one will listen, no one will help. By doing this event, I want to show people will, I want people to talk, I want friends and Families to help. I am putting myself in someone else's shoes again.

I will BEE the advertising board to say, Speak out, listen up and most importantly show Domestic Abuse is not OK. I will also have a LED Panel on my back the whole day, displaying some strong messages of Support, for help and messages against those that cause domestic Abuse.

When I was a child I saw my Mum, then Step Mum be victims, we as Children where to, its not just the adults. Thats why I am doing this.

I will ride this 19 Miles (I not been on a Bike in 20 Years and only just started training) dressed as a BEE, all I ask is you can talk about it, support victims, don't stand back and say it's not you place, BEElieve that you, just talking, just Supporting can BEE the future light someone needs. I also ask, if you can, because Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support this important work.
