Story
9 years ago (9th of May) my wife and I found out at our 20 week scan, that the little baby boy she was carrying had a severe congenital heart defect.
Benjamin had Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA) which meant he had to undergo lifesaving surgery just 4 days after birth. This required 6 hours of the most grueling surgery to switch his arteries and feed the heart and body with oxygen. The operation was a great success thanks to the amazing lifesaving support and care we got from all of the angels at the Royal Brompton Hospital. After recovery we got to take Benjamin home to his big brother!
To celebrate the amazing efforts of the Royal Brompton Hospital we're doing it again! cycling to Brighton for the ninth year. This year Gopi Nanthkumaar is joining for the 5th time and Claire Hughes is screaming from the sidelines [due to technical bike issues!]. Claire said she's doing it twice next year!
We'll be riding for an amazing cause and we'll put our hearts (and backs) into my own 6 hour operation to ride from London to Brighton on the BHF London2Brighton event. It's 54 miles in a single sitting. I will successfully accomplish this on the 15th of June.
I know times are tough for most of us, but if you are fortunate enough to throw in a few coins, It would be greatly appreciated by such an amazing cause.
Thank you for your support
Brendon
