Belper Beating Cancer's fundraiser for Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity

Album Launch event · 13 September 2025
In 2013, my Grandad, Steve May, was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was the kind of man who always put others first—always ready with a listening ear, a joke, or a helping hand. Losing him in 2014 left a huge hole, but it also sparked something powerful.
Alongside my musician friends, we launched Belper Beats, a project to raise money for the Nightingale Macmillan Unit at Derby Royal Hospital, who looked after Grandad with such compassion. The first album and event in 2015 raised over £2,700—and the support we received meant the world.
Now, 10 years on, we’re back. Belper Beats 2 is here—with a new album, new show, and the same goal: to beat cancer with music and community.
Every donation helps the Nightingale Unit continue their vital work. Whether it’s a fiver or a tenner, it all adds up. Let’s make some noise for those who can’t, and honour those who gave us everything.
Thank you for your support.
