Story
Your son might have cancer.
The words sent shivers down my spine as the consultant explained why Jacob, our 11 month old son, was having trouble walking, standing, sitting or even able to crack a smile.
He was diagnosed with an incredibly rare neurological condition (Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome) often triggered by cancer.
Fortunately, Jacob’s tests came back showing no cancer but he will have the neurological condition for the rest of his life. He is recovering well at home following his treatment plan - but not every family’s that lucky.
So when I run the London Marathon in April, I’ll be doing it for the Oxford Children's Hospital who cared for Jacob (John Radcliffe Hospital specifically) and he will be under their care for the next 5-10 years.
Myself and Katie are incredibly grateful for the care and support Oxford Children's Hospital provided to Jacob. The facilities and staff create a special atmosphere in what is a desperately worrying time for children and their families.
I hope the funds I raise support their amazing work and continue to provide an environment that allows Children to have a comfortable space during a scenario no parent would ever want to see their child go through.
Any donation big or small is appreciated.
Thank you so much for supporting Oxford Children's Hospitals Charity
Ben
