Story
Samaritans help people struggling to cope with life, offering a listening service 24/7, 365 days a year. They are the UKs leading suicide prevention charity and carry out significant outreach programmes in high-risk areas such as schools, hospitals and prisons, and also conduct important research that guides suicide prevention policy.
In January I started working for Samaritans speaking to callers. They have been some of the toughest conversations with people in need of help, many of which are suicidal and often are children.
Every pound raised contributes to recruiting more volunteers, supporting more listeners, funding more research, and paying for more prevention programmes… all towards the mission that fewer people die by suicide
