BEN's fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society

BEN BATTYE is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

AJ Bell Great Manchester Run 10K 2026 · 31 May 2026 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

As some of you may be aware this year I have set myself the challenge of partaking in The Great Manchester Run on the 31st May. I don't profess to be a keen runner

I have chosen to support The Alzheimer's Society as my charity - the charity is very close to my heart having lost my paternal grandmother to the disease some years ago and now watching my father, who was diagnosed with the condition shortly after retiring 12 years ago. Whilst my father is quite content in his own world it's the devastation the disease causes to his nearest and dearest - in particular my mother who carries on as bravely as she can do with little complaint but many sacrifices.

I've also recently found out that two of my uncles are in the early stages of Alzheimer's too.

The Alzheimer’s Society is working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives and do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.

Hopefully you'll be able to spare a few quid in sponsoring me in reaching my target of £500 or more. You might even see me if you come out on the 31st May to watch - I'll be in the Orange Wave wearing number 1932.
