The Inspiration:
I have been truly touched and inspired by the work that Compton Hospice did on behalf of my friends and family in recent years. I wanted to take part in an event that represented a real challenge like the one Compton staff and cancer patients face on a daily basis.
The lessons you learn throughout difficult periods help you to develop a different outlook on life. Seeing friends and family battle with this illness and the strength they have and the support they provide to each other in these difficult times is truly inspirational.
Through these difficult times the nurses from Compton are their, dealing with these challenges ensuring the patients are fully supported in their final days. Its perhaps in these testing times in life, we realise the value of our skilled and hardworking doctors, nurses and medical professionals.
The Charity: Compton Hospice
Day and night they are there to provide support, not only for the patients but all of the friends and family affected. Friends and Family who have been in the care of Compton will forever be indebted to the staff, allowing the patients to spend their last weeks with the least amount of suffering and anxiety. Nothing can prepare you for the death of a Friend or Family member, but it is reassuring to see the attention and care of the nurses and be educated and informed throughout the end of life plan.
