Forest of Dean Half Marathon

The Forest of Dean Children's Opportunity Centre provides care, support and facilities for children with additional needs, to enable all children to grow and learn together. Alongside our playgroup, our help extends to the whole family, through support groups, workshops and our minibus service.

Story

Hi I’m Ben and on the 29th of Sept I completed the Forest of Dean half marathon.

I’m fundraising for a charity that is close to mine and my family’s heart, the Forest of Dean opportunity centre.

I have a 3 year old son called Arthur who has additional needs. During the first years of Arthur’s life we began to notice he was different, and as parents we were extremely concerned over what this would mean for our son’s future. We were lost… until we found the opportunity centre. Arthur’s additional needs means he requires a high level of care and understanding of his behaviours. He gets this and more at the centre, each day they take Arthur in and provide him a safe space where he feels loved and appreciated for who he is, and we will never be able explain just how grateful we are to the amazing individuals who make this place so special.

They have made a significant improvement to my son’s life, and I hope that will continue their work to support many of children like him.

The Forest of Dean Children’s Opportunity Centre is a charitable organisation that provides care, support and facilities for children with additional needs, as well as for those without. Our mission is to enable all children to grow and learn together in our childcare setting.

From 3 months to preschool, there is a place for everyone at the Opportunity Centre.
