I know some of you will know that I often run much longer distances than a half marathon. But for me this is actually a bit of a big deal.

I have been going through an adult ADHD diagnosis process and then a further process into the world of ADHD medication and working out the new version of me now that most of the time my executive functioning is a lot more predictable.

I didn't realise just how different life could and would be in this context. It has taken me some time to work through this and also to look at all aspects of my life. Running is one of my big passions, I love it, the community, the challenge, the practice and training.

It had also become almost too much. I made the difficult decision to move away from my long term coach to try and adjust my relationship with the sport. Not about being the absolute best endurance runner I could be at the cost of well almost everything else. But to use running to help support my physical and mental health. To be a positive long term option and to help others to have a slightly more positive relationship with running.

I'm taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon in support of Sport in Mind, to raise much needed funds. Sport in Mind helps to improve the lives of people struggling with mental health challenges through the provision of free, accessible sports and physical activity sessions. My daughter has seen a huge benefit through attending horse riding with Sport in Mind. This is personal!

This one is different, its not an ultra, its not even really about me. It's about the charity, its about doing something positive for others and about healing my relationship with running.
