We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. We’re determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Our vision is a future where nobody dies of the disease.

Story

My brother in law Steve was diagnosed with stage 4 Bowel Cancer in February 2022.

He fought hard from day one, going through 6 months of chemotherapy and treatments giving us the opportunity to make some more memories as a family together.

Devastatingly, the treatment stopped working, Steve passed away in December 2022.

The impact of this on me has been unmeasurable, losing Steve has left a huge hole in my life. He was such a fun outgoing character and happy family man, we have such great memories together that will stay with us all. Steve was a keen cyclist and runner taking part in many events, we often cycled together and when I ride now I still ride with him.

In memory of Steve, I will be undertaking two rides to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK, in the hope others can be seen, tested and treated early.

On Thursday 7th September Myself and one of Steve’s best friends, Michael Gray will be riding from Reading, Steve’s childhood home to Paris, A place that meant a lot to Steve and Nat, who lived and worked there for 2 years, 180miles in one go.

On Friday 22nd September I will be riding solo from Steve, Nat, Elodie and Leo’s family home in Surbiton to Ambleside, a special place we shared many family holidays together and have such happy memories, 287 miles in one effort.

I’m riding for my brother, riding for Steve.
