We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

1 in 5 of us have suicidal thoughts at some point in our lives and I am no stranger to this. That is why I have decided to paint ten to 11 peices over a 24 hour period.

I normally paint abstract pieces with words over the top, for this I have reached out to a few bands for permission to use their lyrics in my paintings.

I can confirm that I will be using lyrics from songs by Last Hounds, Random Hand, Roughneck Riot and Andy B and the World.

£12.20 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.

With it being just a week and nearly being half way to the target I am really pleased with how this is going.

I am however starting to feel pretty vulnerable about the fact that not every piece works out. Some just end up looking a bit naff but people don't see that... This time the world gets to see on a live stream.

The paints for the 24hours have now arrived and I have tested each paint on a piece of paper and annotated it with the colour name to create a colour chart to help me to decide on the colour I would like to use for each painting.
