London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·

Suicide kills 19 people a day in the UK, but free, effective support is increasingly hard to access. We offer fortnightly 50-minute sessions with a carefully trained volunteer, allowing people to talk openly about their suicidal feelings in a welcoming and completely confidential setting.

Story

Update 14/03: I've been blown away by everyone's generosity. We've smashed through the original £1,500 target - absolutely incredible! So I've raised the target to an ambitious £2,500. Every penny means such a lot to me, and to TLP. Thank you!!

______________________

I'm running the London Marathon this year in aid of the charity I work for, The Listening Place (TLP). This is my first marathon - and almost certainly my last!

As you may know, TLP provides free, ongoing, face-to-face support for people who feel life is no longer worth living.

Right now, we're receiving over 750 referrals a month - with no waiting list. We contact everyone referred to us within 24 hours, and offer a first appointment within a week.

We know what we do works. Evaluation of our service consitently shows a significant reduction in people's suicidal feelings and distress after support from our wonderful, highly trained volunteers.

It costs just £300 to support one suicidal person for as long as they need us.

Your donation will help TLP, and help me personally on some very long, very cold training runs between now and 27 April! Please do give if you can.
