Hi, I’m Ben! I am running the London Marathon on 26th April 2026 to raise vital funds for Colchester Hospital Emergency Department and other Urgent Care Services.

I am the General Manager for Urgent and Emergency Care at Colchester Hospital which includes the Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centre, Urgent Community Response Service, Emergency Assessment Unit, Same Day Emergency Care and Frailty Response Services.

My teams care for over 250,000 people every single year, caring for extremely unwell patients and their families.

Colchester Hospital is very close to my heart. In 1996 I was born in the hospital, my Grandma has received treatment for cancer in her mouth here and my Grandad passed away on one of the wards which I now manage.

My fundraising target of £2,200 ahead of running the London Marathon could fund:

50+ Dignity Packs, which includes hygiene supplies, clothing, and basic comfort items for patients admitted unexpectedly.

New training equipment to support staff to be prepared for any major incidents.

Paediatric Emergency Equipment Kits –Allows rapid response to children’s emergencies.

Break room upgrades, for more comfortable chairs, soft lighting, and tea/ coffee upgrades.

All money which is raised improves facilities, funds new equipment, provides additional services, supports staff development and initiate local medical research and innovative projects at The East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
