Story
Hi there,
On November 2nd, I will be running the NYC Marathon on behalf of Literacy Partners. Literacy Partners is an incredible organization that uses a two-generation approach to literacy, working with parents to improve the outcomes of children and the whole family.
Now in it's 51st year, the organization has impacted thousands of adults and even more children in NYC and in seven states, including Puerto Rico. I'm fundraising for them because I believe in the power of literacy to change lives - please join me in supporting such an important mission.
A little about me - I am relatively new to running, only having started seriously last year when I completed my first race, the Brooklyn Half Marathon. Dating back to 2014, my first year in the city, the NYC Marathon has always been my favorite day of the year. Every time I watch it, I wish that I could one day take part in it. Well, that day is now coming and I couldn't be more excited. It is literally a dream come true.
While I am running to raise funds for Literacy Partners, I will also be running in memory of my mom, who passed away in 2018. For those that don't know, my mom was a huge runner, usually running around 5-6 miles every day. She competed in many races but never actually ran a marathon. She will be running with me on November 2nd and I will definitely need her support, and more, on race day.
Thank you for your consideration and support!
Ben
