Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In November 2015, I lost my childhood best friend Joseph Tennant in a road traffic accident. He was a pedestrian.

The news of this put me into a type of shock that I believe I'm still trying to overcome now. It was and remains to be the most pain I've ever felt.

Joe would have been the godfather of my children and the best man at my wedding.

On the 31st March 2024 Joe would have been turning 31 years old.

I recently heard of the 496 challenge, where you run 1km on the 1st, up to 31km on the 31st. For a total of 496km throughout the month.

A fitting challenge given on the 31st I would run 31km to celebrate his 31st birthday.

I will slightly move around a few of those days as I get married on the 20th, so day 1, 2 and 3 will be swapped for days 19, 20 and 21, simply for practicality reasons.

I chose this charity because the sudden unexpected nature of this grief has left me and I'm sure many others aching for people they had made long term plans with and certainly not expected to be saying goodbye to so young. This cause is there to support the people left behind, and also those left with life changing injuries as a result of traffic incidents.
