Ben Wiley is raising money for Jacob Abraham Foundation

24 hour run · 26 September 2025

We aim to help prevent suicide through direct intervention with vulnerable people, raise awareness on mental health/suicide issues, promote positive mental health and support people bereaved through suicide in South Wales. Our foundation seeks to protect vulnerable people and to educate and assist the local communities.

Story

On Friday, September 26th at 6pm , I’ll be running for 24 hours straight around Eastern Leisure Centre Park in Rumney. A 1.2 km loop, over and over again. It sounds mad, but that’s the point. This is as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one.

I’ve faced my own battles with mental health over the years. Admitting I wasn’t okay and getting therapy were huge steps for me. Last year while travelling I hit a low point, and at the start of this year I turned to running. By March I ran my first ultra marathon with no training or plan, I just went out and did it. Since then running has given me purpose and taught me that when things get tough, the only way through is one step at a time.

I’m taking on this challenge in support of the Jacob Abraham Foundation, a local and amazing charity working to prevent suicide and support mental health.

If I’m honest, I don’t even enjoy running that much, which makes this even tougher. But that’s why I’m doing it. To show myself, and hopefully others, that no matter how hard things get, you can always keep going.

I’d love your support through a donation, a share, or by coming down on the day.
