Story
It's a privilege to be part of the small team taking on the 3 peaks in 24 hrs challenge in April. Nathan and Laura, close friends of ours, lost their beautiful daughter Zoë at 21 months old to leukaemia. Having journeyed life with Nath and Laura for the past few years, I can't think of a better reason to be taking on this challenge.
This will be the first significant challenge that I have taken on since my Ironman training Road Traffic Accident in 2019. Since then one of my aims was to run a marathon. And whilst I am to date, unable to run, I am extremely grateful that I can walk. This challenge represents something that will be a real test for me. I hope I am able to give it what it deserves.
We will be climbing (& descending) Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike, & Snowdon including travel between mountains in 24 hours:
- 23 mile trek
- 10,052 ft elevation
- Up and back down
- 465 mile drive
- 24 hrs
Alongside this Nathan will be wearing a weight vest thoughtout the challenge that is the weight of Zoë was when she went to Heaven.
As a team we are raising funds for the Zoë Hope Fund, a Special Named Fund at CCLG: The Children & Young People’s Cancer Association.
Anything given, however small, will go towards vital research into advancing treatment for infant acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
