I’m proud to be running the London Marathon in memory of my Auntie Angela, who sadly lost her life after battling Hereditary Haemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT).

Angela was my mum’s brother’s wife and a much-loved member of our family. She was kind, caring and incredibly brave throughout her illness. Watching the impact HHT had on her and those closest to her was heartbreaking, and it’s something our family will never forget.

HHT is a rare inherited condition that causes abnormal blood vessels to develop throughout the body. In our family, it has been passed down through generations. Angela inherited HHT from her mother, and today her daughter, Emma, is also living with the condition. Seeing how this disease can affect one generation after another is a reminder of why more awareness, research and support are so important.

I’m running this marathon to honour Angela’s memory, support Emma and everyone else living with HHT, and help raise awareness of this little-known condition. Every mile I run is dedicated to those whose lives have been affected by HHT and to the hope that one day better treatments—and ultimately a cure—can be found.
