1 in every 2 of us will suffer with cancer at some point in our lifetime. Last year my mum became one of these unfortunate individuals.

You can never anticipate how a single diagnosis of cancer can effect so many people and this diagnosis was no acceptation.

My mum has always been happy go lucky in life and, despite this diagnosis, kept this attitude which is a testament to her and what has held those of us around her together at times.

This isn't to say there haven't been ups and down with good news and bad along the way and in January she got the news that nobody wanted to hear, that it was terminal.

Even in this moment she retained her positivity which only strengthened the rally behind her fight.

This has been a tremendously tough time for us as a family and Macmillan have been an incredible support throughout easing financial burdens and helping to makes sense of things when they just don't seem to make sense.

Macmillan have supported me and my family with everything they have as they commit everything they can to everyone they can.

For this reason, over the next few months I'm looking to complete a number of challenges to raise money for Macmillan and charities alike that provide pivotal support in these desperate time.

For my first challenge I'll be running the Bognor Prom 10k.
