Story
They say I only run for football or if I’m being chased, but this time, I’m running for something much bigger – the Wigan Youth Zone 💙💛❤️
As someone who’s faced and fought against the challenges of dyslexia and speech impairments, I know what it’s like to be underestimated.I also know what it was like in school environments and feeling ‘different’ to my friends and classmates, however I found my place at Youth Clubs and from their grew to achieve things I didn’t think were possible and I know certain people didn’t either.
But here I am, ready to take on the Wigan 10K.
I’m not just running for myself; I’m running for every young person who needs a place to turn to, a place like the Youth Zone – an ‘essential service’ as Andy Burnham rightly said. This is for the kids who need someone to believe in them when the world seems daunting.
I’ve lived the transformative power of youth work, and now I see its magic unfold every day.
So, I’m lacing up my running shoes, not just to cross a finish line, but to ensure that the doors of Wigan Youth Zone remain wide open for those who seek guidance, inspiration, and a chance to grow.
Please support my run and, more importantly, the dreams of our young people. Every contribution brings us closer to a world where no child’s potential is left untapped.
With gratitude, Benjamin🏃♂️💪
