Story

We are welcoming donations in loving memory of Benji Mallett-Williams who sadly passed away on December 25th 2023, aged 34 years. Benji was a fantastic son, brother, friend and colleague and he will be missed greatly by all that knew and loved him.

All money raised will go to the Cardiff and Vale University Health Boards’ Paediatric Diabetes Team, that work tirelessly to support, care, educate and advocate for not only children and young people diagnosed with diabetes, but their families too.

Benji was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes back in 2001 when he was 12 years old. The diabetes team at Cardiff and the Vale were extremely supportive of Benji throughout his childhood and teenage years, and also to us as his family. They were always only a phonecall away and continuously went the extra mile, especially during difficult times.

Benji struggled throughout his adult life with the management of his diabetes as well as associated medical complications. Therefore, we as a family would like all raised donations to aid the ongoing educational programmes and family support provided by the diabetes team on positive diabetes management and to lay the foundations children and young people need to go on and live a happy and healthy life, despite having a diabetes diagnosis.

We as a family would like to thank you in advance for any generous donations made. We know the huge difference this team makes for children and young people diagnosed with diabetes ❤️
