Story
Sunday 21 April 2013 was my first London marathon. Ignorance was bliss and I was totally oblivious to how hard this run would be. Though, this remains to this day one of my proudest memories, running in support of @thtorguk and their their unwavering commitment to defying HIV and improving the nation’s sexual health. Back then in the 80’s, the Terrence Higgins Trust was the first charity in the UK to be set up in response to the HIV epidemic and have been at the forefront of the fight against HIV and AIDS ever since.
As a gay man, there is not a day where I am not grateful for all the fight and hard work people like @thtorguk have been doing. Thanks to them, and initiatives like them, it is becoming more possible to envisage a world without any new HIV diognoses. People living with HIV can now also access the relevant support to live healthy; free from shame and stigma.
11 years later, on Sat 23 November, I’m super proud to get my running shoes back on and fundraise for @thtorguk again as part of the annual World AIDS Day @redrun.
This year I’m running with my fabulous Fair Weather Runner Gworl Band, Paul raising for Switchboard , Dean for Positively UK and Max for Terrence Higgings Trust too.
Please come cheer us on the race day in Victoria Park and offer some support with a donation.
I am forever grateful.
Love,
Ben
