Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024 · 13 October 2024 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Several years ago my wife, Susan, suffered an unexpected bleed on the brain and had a stroke. She was fit, healthy and active, and this struck her down out of the blue.

Through this traumatic experience I witnessed first hand the devastating & totally life changing effects of a stroke, and the amount of support needed for those recovering, often for the rest of their lives.

Thankfully many years later she's made a near complete recovery, but both our lives have been changed & marked by this event. This October I'll be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon and doing so I'd love to raise money for this worthwhile charity that supports both victims of stroke, but also those around them.

Stroke is the fourth single leading cause of death in the UK, responsible for 34,000 deaths annually. That's a life lost every 15 minutes, so please give what you can
