7 years ago, we ran the Cardiff 10K for an Alzheimer’s charity, and you were there waiting for us at the finish line. This time, I won’t see you at the end—but I’ll carry you with me every step of the way. I know your memory will help me keep going when it gets tough.

I’ve decided to take part again this year, not only in memory of you, Dad, but to help raise money in the hope of finding a cure for this cruel disease.

Alzheimer’s took so much from you and from all of us. It stole pieces of you long before it took you from this world. My hope is for a future where no family has to endure that kind of heartbreak and loss.

I might not be the fastest. I might not even manage to run the whole way. But one thing I do know—I won’t give up. Because you’ll be with me, pushing me forward when I need it most.

This one’s for you, Dad.
