Story

Hello everyone,

I am grateful to have been chosen to take part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon in April 2025 on behalf of The Skye High Foundation. The Skye High Foundation supports bereaved families during and after the loss of a twin, triplet or multiples. Any donations no matter how small are greatly appreciated. *Please make sure to gift aid too*

This charity has helped me in recent years by providing emotional support, the opportunity to spread awareness to others and a wonderful community of people who have been through similar losses like myself.

As most of you know, I lost two of my triplet boys (identical twins Joseph and Niall) midway through my triplet pregnancy due to Twin-to-Twin Transfusion. Twin-To-Twin Transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a rare pregnancy condition affecting identical twins or other multiples. TTTS occurs in pregnancies where twins share one placenta (afterbirth) and a network of blood vessels that supply oxygen and nutrients essential for development in the womb. I was assigned a consultant and attended weekly appointments which consisted of scans and blood tests. Alongside these complications, I also suffered severe Hyperemesis Gravidarum and needed to stay in hospital during periods of my pregnancy.

To give James a fighting chance as he was in his own sac, against all odds and being told throughout I could also lose James, I carried the boys until I was induced at 37 weeks and gave birth to a healthy baby boy, my miracle James. I was able to then lay Joesph and Niall to rest and we now have them at home where they belong.

In recent years, James has completed two charity runs for his brothers which were The Santa Dash and the Kids Movember run of which he was recognised for in the press and also some magazines for his fantastic efforts and fundraising.

This marathon is going to be a challenge, but I use all my love for my boys to get through different challenges in my life. I would like to thank The Skye High Foundation for their continued support for both James and myself. Being a part of your community means so much.

I would also like to give thanks to the Arrowe Park midwifery team, Liverpool Women’s TTTS specialist team, my consultant Mr Idama and the Whiston hospital bereavement team who helped me arrange the twins funeral.
