Story
Bernadette and Su are raising money for St Catherine’s Hospice in memory of each of our very special mums: Barbara and Elizabeth.
Barbara, Su's mum sadly passed away living with throat cancer and due to complications whilst receiving her treatment passed away at just 69yrs old in 2017.
Elizabeth, Bernadette's mother had a very short terminal diagnosis of brain cancer aged 61yrs in 2016. Elizabeth was cared for at the hospice until she passed away. The environment created at the in patient unit provided immeasurable support to each and every one of us as a family in a very difficult few weeks.
Barbara and Elizabeth are two beautiful women who were taken from us far too early and who deserve for their memory to be continued to be kept alive. Su and Bernadette's friendship has grown over recent years and as we have often shared the sadness and challenge of living our lives without the physical presence of our mums, It is especially important to us that we support this wonderful local charity.
St Catherine's Hospice cares for patients and families across Chorley, Preston and South Ribble who are affected by life-shortening conditions like cancer, motor neurone disease and heart failure.
Their specialised care is their to help people enjoy the best possible quality of life, to the end of life. Working with patients and their loved ones at the hospice and in their own homes to help them achieve what is important to them in the time they have.
They work creatively and collaboratively with other organisations, businesses, charities and local people to meet the needs of patients and their loved ones.
Their values are caring, compassionate and committed.
Bernadette and Su are walking 8 miles on the Hospices planned event: Moonlight and Memories walk on 21st June 2025.
We would be very grateful for any support you can provide to us,
Thank you,
Bernadette and Su
