Story
Brrr... I've volunteered to swim 2.3km from Boscombe Pier to Bournemouth Pier in the icy English Channel. All in a good cause... just hope I make it!
What about the cause? I'm raising funds for the British Heart Foundation. As well as conducting life-saving research, the BHF funds research by other charities.
One of these, UK Biobank, enables a groundbreaking global research through its biomedical database to advance in treatments and cures. Described as "the altruism of half a million people", the UK Biobank database contains information on half a million individuals who have generously provided their personal data and biological samples, propelling scientific progress for the benefit of all.
I'm delighted to be swimming at the same time as UK Biobank's Chief Scientist, Prof Naomi Allen.
So, dip your hand in your pocket to encourage me to dip my toe in the water... your support will make a meaningful impact and provide me with extra motivation! Thanks for your support.
