Story
In 2024, we tragically lost our beloved Bernard at the young age of 24. Bernard was an extraordinary son, a cherished brother, and a dear friend to so many.
If you were fortunate enough to cross paths with him, it might have been during his school years at St Thomas More, while he was working at Adventure Island or Revolution Southend, or during his time in Leicester. Bernard's warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit left a positive mark on everyone he met, and his loss has been felt deeply by all who knew him.
Bernard had an incredible spirit full of laughter and kindness and was able to brighten every room he entered. He possessed a fantastic ability to connect with others which meant that, no matter the setting, he seemed to know almost everyone around him. Bernards infectious smile and joyous laugh will stay in the memories and hearts of those he knew forever.
During his time with us, Bernard showed us the true meaning of living fully and making the most of each moment. Though his time with us was cut short, he truly lived a thousand lifetimes, inspiring us to battle our anxieties and embrace life to the fullest.
In June 2025, a few of Bernard’s friends are going to run the 2025 Southend Half Marathon in memory of him. Given the circumstances of his passing and his battles with type one diabetes, we wish to use this opportunity to fundraise for Diabetes UK.
We welcome any and all support for this incredible cause. Whether you're able to make a donation or join us in person on the day, your contribution will make a meaningful difference.
Every penny sent to Diabetes UK goes towards care and support services, advice and guidance, and pioneering research.
