Story
I have decided to take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise funds for Down Syndrome UK (Positive about Down Syndrome). This charity tries to ensure all expectant and new parents of a baby with Down syndrome can access support and information required to navigate the early years of their journey. They also offer ongoing support for families of older children with Down syndrome.
Positive about Down Syndrome also work with Medical professionals, in maternity units and universities, to ensure accurate and relevant information is available and that the support provided to parents is evidence-based.
So why am I doing this?
I have had the privilege of being a member of this charity since 2021, when they supported me through my pregnancy with a confirmed diagnosis of Down syndrome. We have been able to access Physiotherapy, Early educational intervention and personal support as a parent.
When Archie spent an extended time in hospital they were there to offer support and advice when required.
Finally the determination Archie shows everyday to succeed has given me the motivation to complete the London Landmarks Half Marathon to give a little something back.
