Story
As a parent, I understand the challenges of raising a child with additional needs.
'Building for the Future Wokingham' has been a lifeline for families like mine, providing a safe & inclusive space at their centre, 'Our House', where children with disabilities are celebrated.
My own journey with my little boy, Zac, who has faced health challenges since he was 10 days-old, led me to find solace & support through this remarkable charity.
As a newborn, Zac was diagnosed with a lifelong heart condition. Witnessing him having to have his heart stopped & restarted countless times owing to an erratic heartrate exceeding 300 beats per minute, caused me to have PTSD. Since our lengthy hospital stay from Zac’s initial diagnosis, he has been hospitalised due to both his heart & also, seizures. More recently, Zac has been diagnosed with Autism.
The resilience of Zac, along with the support from ‘Building for the Future’, has inspired me to take on the 2024 Vitality London 10km in September as a personal challenge. Despite the demands of caring for both Zac & my little girl, 16 month-old, Sienna, I am determined to raise £1,000 in support of this invaluable cause that has touched my life in profound ways.
Your contribution will not only help me reach my target but also ensure that 'Building for the Future Wokingham' continues to be a beacon of hope for families facing similar situations.
Thank you for your support x
