Beth's fundraiser for Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity

Sands Winter Walk 2023 · 27 October 2023 to 10 January 2024 ·
This December I will be walking a minimum of 25 miles for SANDS charity. (I aim to do much more than this)
On the 20th November, life as we knew it was changed and rearranged forever. At our 13 weeks scan we received the devastating news that our baby had some serious medical issues. We were quickly thrown into a world we knew nothing about. A few days later a visit to the Fetal Medicine Unit at St. Mary's Hospital confirmed the heartbreaking news that the baby already serious heart problems and had less than 10% of surviving up to 20 weeks of the pregnancy. In that moment we were given choices none of which would lead to a happy ending. After lots of tears and talks we made what will always be the hardest decision our of lives to end the pregnancy - taking on the pain and sadness so our darling baby didn't have to suffer anymore.
On the the 26th November, after a 10 hour labour our precious Skye was born at 6:04 a.m. Tiny but beautiful in every way.
No one can quite prepare you for the grief that takes over but if I can raise just a little bit of money to help other couples going through this then I'll be forever grateful.
Thank you
Beth
