Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A little under a year ago I broke my back in two places due to a bad fall at a climbing gym. I was extremely lucky to have not been paralyzed by the fall. Unfortunately I currently live with chronic pain following the accident and want to raise awareness of those living in pain, which can often be invisible to others.
I also feel at the same time incredibly lucky to have been able to walk away from the accident, many people are not as fortunate. In a split second, your life can change forever but with research and funding into spinal cord injuries, maybe it does not have to be this way.
To raise funds I am setting myself a challenge of swimming the equivalent length of the English channel in my local pool over a period of 12 weeks from January to March 2025. That works out at roughly 1400 lengths. Fortunately I am not allowed to run yet following my injury (I hate running) but I am allowed to swim.
Pain UK are an amazing charity supporting other charities that help people with different types of pain, including the Spinal Injuries Association who support people with life changing spinal conditions. I would love it if you could donate to this cause and help people living with long term pain and recovering from spinal cord injuries.
